Service life of an energy storage system

Battery life is almost always directly proportional to the depth of discharge (DOD).
This means that the more deeply a battery is discharged, the shorter its service life.
Depth of Discharge (DoD) is a parameter that describes how far a battery has been discharged - DoD 0% means fully charged, while DoD 100% means fully discharged.
*The number of charging cycles is an important parameter when choosing an energy storage system, as it determines its service life. Every charge and discharge degrades the cell, which results in a loss of capacity.
*The available energy or the DOD in a daily cycle (charged and discharged every day) is usually specified by the manufacturer, and the cycle life in years is based, among other things, on this value.
*Battery life depends on many variables - operating temperature, discharge rate or state of charge - so the performance and service life of a system may vary even within the same manufacturer.
