The privileges for electric cars are …

The government wants us to buy more electric cars.
The problem is that the benefits on offer are laughable.
Bus lane - driving an electric car you can use it and avoid the traffic jam. In theory, because practice shows that many drivers ignore the signs and petrol cars travel along the bus lane, buses do not always have a separate stopping bay and mopeds accelerate to 45 km/h - it suddenly becomes easy to understand why using this lane does not speed up getting around the city.
Free parking - you have to rely on the inspectors telling an electric car from a petrol one and not imposing an additional charge (the driver should appeal against it - this involves no costs, but it is a waste of time).
It is hard to imagine a situation in which incentives designed like this would actually convince anyone to buy an electric car.
